The easiest way to get indexed by google is to have a blog in blogger.com !!!
write an article on your blog with a link to your new page then the URL will be indexed very soon.
Why ?
Because google has purchased and owns blogger.com. And the nature of a blog is "frequent update". Every page in blogger.com will be indexed by google quickly without much effort !! Blogger has place much effort and make sure all the pages are indexed properly.

SEO for yahoo

I found that it is easier to optimize yahoo search engine as it is more based on the web page itself instead of inbound links.
I have a page which ranked quite well under yahoo, and got some constant traffic from there everyday. But for google, I rank too bad that no one can get a chance to see it.
I will plan to write some more pages and test for the ranking on yahoo.
